Do the rest of the gauges in your cluster work?

Its not going to be the instrument fuse if the rest of the gauges work.

Its more than likely an issue with the crank or vehicle speed sensors.

He shouldnt have caused any problems just installing an amp.. But my tach sticks on the base pin if it sits for a while. Tap on the plastic of the gauge cluster shield and see if it pops up. Thats what I have to do sometimes.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

RPM is read from the ICM via the crank sensor, then to the pcm and cluster. Typically the only thing that should cause this would be a bad crank sensor.

If your friend ran the wiring to the battery...maybe the wiring at the icm/crank area was hit/moved and that's the cause. Otherwise, I can't understand them being related.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I would agree with Bill... Also sometimes the tach needle does get stuck but I'm leaning more towards the crank sensor....
