Girlfriend has one in her 2002 Mustang. All i see hooked up is the ground to the chassis, a wire leading up front around and beside the headlight(i'm assuming going to the horn), and a red wire going into the power distribution box under the hood. I assume that I can un hook all of this without screwing anything up? I see no other wires leading anywhere else in the car. I just wanted to check before I did it.

I know nothing about it. She had it installed a long time ago before we met and said it has not worked for a while unless the battery is dead in the remote. I will take a picture and put it up so you can see what I'm talking about.

Yeah do that. Cuz if it is an alarm, there will be a starter cutout, door triggers, door lock, parking light wires....along with multiple 12v input and outputs. And removing the alarm without reconnecting the starter wire will cause the car to not start.

Ok, in this pic you can see the wire going to around the headlights by my thumb, the power wire running down around the box, and the ground. The loose wire bundled up is for the remote I'm sure.

Here is a pic of the power wire(I assume) running into the box.

Any ideas? Anything I'm not seeing here? I don't want to unhook it just for it to disable the car.. LOL

I will take a few more pics to show you. It is several wires at the connector like you see in the pic but then it feels like it goes into one wire. Give me a minute... brb

Ok, so Here is the back end of that harness running down by the battery.

Some of the cover was pulled away already, and it looks like its one wire now. Like I said at the connector end though it has multiple wires.

Here is the pic of it going behind the headlight.

Weird setup brah. But it is easy enough to disconnect. It looks like someone started wiring it and said "Yeah, fuggit" and quit. Basically, from what I can see, it is just power, ground and what may be a parking like connection. Disconnecting that will have no effect on the car. If for some reason it does, its easy enough to reconnect.

Think there is anything up front that could disable the car that wire could be leading too? I really don't think there is though.. I mean to disable the car I would think that it would have to run back into the cab to the ignition or something. Unless they tied into the harness somewhere up front and I don't see it. If that is the case though It would be more than one wire though. They couldn't have several wires running in that small one I would think..

No, a starter disable alone requires two wires. Just disconnect the harness and start the car.

Ok, I will tell her and then give it a try. The battery is original and has gotten weak so we gonna take it out and try to charge it a bit and then have it tested before we buy a new one. When the car wouldn't start from the weak battery the alarm just chirped for a min or so and then quit. She said "i should take that thing out, i never use it". I thought I would look into it for her. Thanks for your help.

No prob....what Im thinking is that someone just connected it enough to make the chirp sounds and to make the shock sensor active.
