I'm getting very frustrated with this static/cracking sound coming from driver's side speaker. I removed door panel and disconnected speaker only to now have static sounds coming from dash speaker. This sound continues even when key removed from ignition. Could this be a blown amplifier or are both speakers blown?

If it is amplifier, can you tell me how to remove so I can install another one?

What year is your car? My 04+ also does this when the doors are open without the key in the ignition.

This seems to be an 04+ Monsoon thing. If you wait a few minutes with the key out, the amp will turn off and the speakers will stop making noise. I haven't seen any information identifying it as the speakers or the amp.

The sound will not stop after key is removed. I've actually opened the door in the morning and the sound is still there.

I have had the left door speaker disconnected 1 day and so far NO static/cracking yet. I'm thinking blown speaker...but why would blown speaker make sound while no power???

You have to wait for the power to turn off. Trust me, it turns off if you wait. When you open the doors, you're introducing power (notice the lights went on?)

This happens on my 04 as well. The sound gets worse when you add an aftermarket headunit with the adapter, and a seperate amp for the speakers... As far as I know there is no way around this, but it is normal.

I ended up buying an aftermarket speaker (POLK DXI 650) and replaced the left door speaker. So far NO static/cracking sound.

I'm going to replace the other door speaker today and hope this fixes problem.

Pry off the cover, and unscrew the screws ,pull out speaker, disconnect said speaker, install is reverse directions. yes that easy

I saw that someone put in aftermarket speakers and the noise went away, so it seems that the issue would be the speakers, then.
