Scosche FM-MOD02 Play your iPod®, satellite radio, or portable music player through any car's FM radio at Crutchfield.com

This one isn't to bad but I was wondering if there is a better one or at least a little better price. I'm willing to pay more to get a better adapter. I'd like to use this to plug my phone into my car( I already have an adapter my iPod that plugs into my receiver) so I have to have a 1/8 plug. Any Ideas

Amazon.com: Alpine Ai-net Rca Aux Auxiliary Input Adapter Cable: Electronics
This will give you an auxiliary, I have one similar but for a Pioneer. Let me go plug my phone into it and see if it picks it up.

I only have two problems with that. It doesn't really look like the plug that I used with the iPod adapter. ( i think that's were this one plugs in) and if so I wonder if there is a splitter or something that would allow me to have both

If its the 9856,(it will tell you on somewhere on the face of the HU) do you have an HD tuner hooked up? If so, I believe the tuner has a port on it for the KCA-121b. If you do not have the HD tuner, you can plug the KCA-121b right into the back of the radio.
Alpine KCA-121B Auxiliary Input Adapter Converts the changer port on Alpine stereos to an aux input at Crutchfield.com
Then you will need this to connect the phone to the rca's off the KCA-121b

Yes...at least if it is a 9856. It has a dedicated Ipod port. The ai net port is used for aux, HD tuner and or cd changer.

I thought the 9856 utilized an Ai-net to some box? That box should have an aux input available? Sorry...I usually have better answers

Yeah..the "box" is the HD tuner (which is sold separately). Which should also have another ai-net port for an aux. But if he doesnt have the HD tuner, he can plug directly into the back of the radio. Just turn the source to auxiliary and plug in the phone.

Yep..this unit came out just before I got out of the business..and it was a HOT seller. One of the first fully integrated Ipod connectors built in. And one of the first to bring out the HD radio tuner. Now you dont need the HD tuner, cuz its built into the radios now.

Ai-net was always designed to daisy chain.

The 9856 must have been the first iteration of the KCE-422i cable. It's the same cable necessary for the 9887. THe 9855 utilized the KCA-420i. If you want to use anything beyond a 5th generation iPod you need an adapter that crosses the firewire pin outs as well as reducing it to 5V so that your item can charge. Otherwise, your ipod will play and function, it just won't charge. iPhone can't be controlled though.

There wasn't a reason for me to repost a link for the necessary adapter. But perhaps it's helpful to clarify discussions for other traffic. Don't forget that these threads are a knowledge base

FYI...for those who do opt for an FM modulator. They tend to work better when grounded through the vehicle; meaning they plug into accessory outlets/cigarette lighter.
