Ok so i just got done replacing my bcm and ignition cylinder and relearnign the keys i have an aftermarket system i wwant to put in although ive tried once and seems my stereo triggers the factory security....i put factory back in and did another relearn all is good now but my question is i got a 2000 gp gt with bose no onstar and some people say i need a bypass module and others say i dont its a problem with the car....im looking for some answers because the bose is nice and all but nothing like a 1000 watt amp in the trunk with some subs and a full function deck....so do i need a bypass module or is there really something wrong with my car

Where in CT are you? And is this just a stereo system you want to put in or are you putting in an alarm system?

Im from thompson ct which is about 45 minutes from you.... im just putting in a stereo system no alarm, car has factory "alarm" but for some reason everytime i plug in my aftermarket deck it triggers the security light and EVERYONE i talk to at audio shops says i shouldnt need a bypass module unless i have aftermarket alarm and onstar it should just be a basic harness plug it in and splice the remote wire for the bose amp into the remote connection on the deck and it should be fine...i had it in when i first got the car no problems then my bcm crashed on me after i replaced it i have issues now.....
