So out of the blue I see my security light is on. Car still runs and drives fine as far as I could tell.

    Any ideas?

There were some break-in's in the lot I was parked at last night. Mine was not broken into but I wonder if the alarm went off or someone messed with the doors if that would trip it. Anything I could find related to pass lock and having to do a key relearn. But it runs???

Beats me, it should always be flashing if the vehicle is off and the car is locked.

Never had it be flashing with the vehicle running though. It likely runs just fine because you have the correct keys with the PK3 chip to disable the VATS and let it run.

It's not the red blinking light. It is the word "security" in the cluster.

This happened to me Wednesday morning for my commute to work, it was on as soon as I started the car in the morning and drove fine all the way to work (25 miles). By the time I got to work, I let it sit, turned it off and took the key out. after putting it back and making sure the key was snug, I started it and it was off. Haven't had any issues since then making sure the key is all the way in, but from what I've researched it's the PK3 key or your security system starting to fail somewhere (obviously).

The light has stayed on solid for 2 days. Drove it about 300 miles w no issues. Tried both keys. Have not tried the 1/2 hour relearn process yet. I will try to get it scanned Monday to see if that sheds any light on it. Weird!

Light still on. Pulled 2 codes B0687 security system current low and B0689 security system current open. Might have mixed up the words but the numbers are right. Could not clear codes. Have not checked if there is a dedicated fuse yet. Any other ideas? Still runs fine with either key.

Daughter came home this weekend and was driving it and after she adjusted the tilt steering the light went off. Looks like a bad wire in the column.
