Im looking for pics of box designs or setups involving 15's i have 2 type-r 15's and right now i have no idea what to do for a box that i can get in my trunk.

I got two mtx tr7515s in my car with lots of trunk space to spare ill post some pics of my build tomorrow if I remember to get them lol buy in the meantime here's one I get from inside the car...
Me and my dad made the box ourselves with some 3/4 in mdf in our garage in a weekend. Shouldn't be too hard time recreate if I remember the dimensions correctly
Using the pass thru is pretty much out of the question for 15's...honestly i would just make a standard rectangle box...36 inches wide and rougly 16 tall and probably about 12 deep.
That would equate to about 1.5 cf per sub....then throw some fiber fill in there to get more density inside the box.
Play around with this and you can figure out how much air space you can get with what dimensions.

Well it also depends if he wants trunk space or not because when i made mine in still wanted to be able to throw 3 sets of golf clubs back there with the subs in. If he's gonna do the traditional rectangular box then he's gonna have no room left in the trunk unless he accounts for the angle against the seats.
Well I wasn't saying that you have to downgrade. For instance I've got 2 15's in 2 separate boxes of about 1.5 cf each and my trunk is still functional. If you don't care about trunk space then go ahead and make the rectangular box but if you still want to use it then you're gonna have to account for the angle against the seats which will change the design of your box.
Also if you want to be able to get the subs in and out easily into would suggest doing two different boxes of the same size unless you wanna call a buddy over every time you wanna get them out.
the rectangle box wont stick out much further than the strut towers...leaving quite a bit of trunk space still.
Really? You got a pic of that because I was wondering how much it sticks out with a big rectangular box. Also how much if a pain in the a$$ was it to get it in the car lol
I'm currently building one for 12's..it'll have the pass thru in the center.
If you need to know how much it stick out right now take a tape measure and drop it straight down from the rear deck...not the very far up wehere it comes down(doesn't allow for the 16" height) and then measure 12 inches out from that point.
EDIT: It'll probably be a pain in the ass to get in...might even have to jack the car up to get the weight off of the strut towers to get it in. Maybe ill shorten in to 35" so that way i know it will fit and plus i can get some dynamat or second skin on the strut towers if i want.
ive been completely obsessed about figuring out a good design and im curious if anyone has done a box firing up.
My thoughts are putting the two 15's together between the towers facing up and either make the port also fire up but farther back towards the lid or bring it down and fire it backwards like a conventional box
35.5inches wide will fit to the front of the trunk like that pic
also if you don't want near as much rattle and don't care about space try something like that
IF YOU DONT WANT TRUNK RATTLE THEN DONT FIRE THE SUBS IN THE TRUNK AND HAVE THEM MOUNTED IN A REAL ENCLOSURE.
isn't that simple?
A good design would be one that doesnt fire in the trunk at all but directly into the cabin.
Yeah no sh!t lol looks like you had to cut the back seat out the get that sucker in there. As for matt... THANK YOU. Also if you have them facing toward the cabin you can FEEL the bass not just hear it lol
i can feel the cold air on any song that goes below 35hz
matt mine still rattles its the side of the car that is the loudest tho....
i will tune down matt and get a 15hz test tone for ya matt 35 inches of port gonna be a long one
What power are you running? Space requirements/preferences? Speakers firing front, back, up, port firing forward, up, back, and are you looking to remove the box at any time?
I'll help you build a box & design it if you want. Let us know.
trunk space i dont care about i just want to design a box i dont need to build in the trunk so it can be removed and coated in the summer. so im thinking im going to fire them up and make each sub its own box the only part im undecided with is the port. i have a design i can pm you and see if there is something i can improve on
