Hey guys. I am looking into getting a cb radio for Christmas and was wondering if you guys had any advice as to what brands to stay away from or what ones you really like.

I have the Uniden PRO520XL w/ a Larsen NMO antenna in the truck. Compact and does the job.

Ive been driving a truck for 16yrs. and have tried them all. If you want one that sounds good and will last a long time go with Connex or Galaxy. Both are easy to tune and come equipped with echo and talkback

Very easy, as the antenna was on the money, so didn't need to trim it.

I've done a few tunes, and it is easy, as long as you know what you are doing.

How easy would it be for someone who has no experience on tuning a cb radio?

I'd say easy. You just hook up the SWR meter, transmit and watch the SWR meter, trim antenna if needed and repeat until you are dialed in.

eBay usually has SWR meters for sale. That or the guy you are getting the CB from. He probably has one you could borrow.

That or I might have to see if my dad can get one from his work cause all he did for awhile was install radios into some big big trucks and loaders.
