so I have an 04+ and one of my 898's are burned out. So I'm looking for the BRIGHTEST 898 halogen bulbs on the market. All I can find online and in stores is basic silverstar 898s...they are cheap, and don't give out enough light for me...I'm not ready to go HID with the fogs yet ( just ordered my first set of 9006 6k HID's today from DDMtuning ). So they don't make 898 Silverstar Ultras or 898 Silverstar XtraVision or even any 898ST's?

Basically I'm trying to find the brightest way to light up my fogs without Modding or going HID fogs...Will any of the "H" series fog bulbs work? I know those vary in differnt levels of brightness ( expensive? yeah lol )...

tell me what you did...thanks guys...

You're not gonna like anything but HID. Especially since you're going HID headlights. I have 6000k headlights and I'm gonna do 5000k fogs

I recently installed cyber white fog lights on my car and they are noticeably brighter than the stock ones as well as a nicer white/blue color instead of the stock orangeish color
I think the stock bulb is a 27 watt halogen while the cyber white is a 55 watt halogen

You could swap in an 893 bulb. The only difference is that the 898 bulb has a right angle base and the 893 has a straight base. Sylvania offers the silverstar in 893. GE nighthawk is also available in 893 and a better bulb than the silverstar.

    Foglight Install

    Found this as well.

yeah but isant that a huge load on your car's wiring? you would need some kind of a harness for 2 HID kits?

Yeah they will fit. The 893 will plug right in.

The lumen output breakdown is the following:
    898 bulb is 740 lumens
893 GE nighthawk is 942 lumens
    893 silverstar is 990 lumens
They are all rated at ~38 W.

The silverstar is the brightest of the two but they tend to burn out in a couple months. I would recommend the GE nighthawk bulb.

Modding is out of the question but you are opting for HIDs?
Lol that would take three times the work as putting in those cyber whites
I don't care what you do but your reasoning makes no sense whatsoever

He has an 06. The foglights are very different than what you have.

You can use HIDs without a harness if you wish. I always recommend a harness when using HIDs to avoid issues with flickering and ensuring the ballasts get powered by the battery instead of the stock wiring. If you decide to go with a harness then you need 1 for the headlights and 1 for the fogs. Other than that, you will have no issues with it being an extra load to the car.

^^^^^Thnx for explaining the reason for not wanting to modify the fogs on an 04+...(too much drilling, cutting and fitment issues. Just don't wanna do surgeory on my car)

but with the HID set I just ordered for the lows, I did include a Harness in my package, didn't know if I needed it or not so I bought just in case
