FM Transmitters?!?!

Hey everybody, I have a bit of a problem.

Im on a budget and my 98 GP only has a cd player so it is impossible to play my i-Pod unless i get an aftermarket radio, which i dont feel like installing nor can i really afford.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for FM Transmitters and which is the best. I was thinking of getting the EZnex Ezcube (Eznex ENA7000 EzCube FM transmitter MP3 Player Accessory reviews - CNET Reviews ) since the internet tells me it is the best one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality FM transmitter? Thanks alot!

It will work but it will not have as good of quality of a cd. You will get static with an fm transmitter

I bought a $100 belkin one that was on a boxing day sale for $20.

It sucked, but it was much better than most of the ones out there.

a DLO ipod transmitter was the best i've had until it broke. i have no antenna, so most others were horrible.

Transmitters suck, look into a transponder. It's pretty much like adding in an aux connection through your antenna. I picked one up for ~$30 and has a strong signal, very happy with it.

Here's what you need. Alpine KWE-155B


Ignore what its says about the ex-10. Thats just an expensive add-on screen to interface with your ipod remotely.
What this is is an antenna splitter with an aux headphone jack with an extension wire. You will have to remove your factory radio to install but its plug and play for around $30.

Edit, Almost forgot that you will have to get a GM antenna adapter (GM antenna jack is different (smaller) than the rest of the audio world)

The amount of money that you are going to spend on one is not worth it. Simply wait, save your money, and buy a new receiver. You can get one from Crutchfield.com for $130.00 that includes an aux port for your ipod and all hardware needed to install. It took me literally an hour to put mine in and that includes soldering the wiring harness. If you use wire nuts, and I don't advise doing that, it should take about 15 min. to do. Trust me, you'll be happy you waited.

those plug in where the antenna plugs in. all you gotta do is remove the radio, unplug the antenna, plug that boy in and route the wire wherever you'd like it to plug into the pod. i'd definitely go that route if you aren't planning to get a new receiver.

I was thinking about buying one for myself until my friend got into my car and she brought her Ipod and transmitter and I was not impressed at all. My cds sounded 100x better then that thing.

Not at all, it plugs inline with your antenna and only occupies a single channel when it's on. They have a couple to choose from which are usually dead channels anywhere you go anyways.

Should be about it. You literally just unplug the radio antenna, plug the transponder inline, run your aux and power hookups. That easy

EDIT: and be sure to order two of those antenna adapters.

Don't mean to sound confusing but you will also need a Motorola to GM adapter.

right now you only have the small GM plug at the end of your antenna going into your radio. you need to adapt that to the motorola plug for it to plug into the alpine unit (the plug that I listed in my first post, and that you posted above) Then the alpine unit has a motorola plug coming out of it. you will need this adapter to adapt it back to a GM plug so it will go into your radio.

So, you will need the alpine unit, as well as a 40-GM20 and a 40-GM10 adapter.

Nope, its just plug and play. Unless you tried to shove the square peg through the round hole as a kid you should be able to figure this one out. I don't have this item, but a friend of mine did in his Ford. I don't remember if you have to tune into a frequency or if when you plug into the ipod every station becomes your music. I'm sure the directions will explain.

Don't order anything yet. I want to check with my friend to see if this was the only thing he had in his car and make sure he didn't have to modify anything. I don't want you to buy this thing and then find out it won't work without modification or something else.
