Due to a dead speaker in my old MTX box i decided it was time for new speakers

ok well here is the the box rebuild:

the original MTX Road Thunder Box ... the left side speaker was totally dead and the other was starting to as well

    1/2" Plexiglass removed

    Both Speakers pulled

Side by side of the old speaker and new!

Heh, I actually had to trash my sub box due to lack of room, so now I have an open enclosure (paradox I know) which actually hits harder now. I've got 2 12's facing at an angle pointing into the little pass-through in the back seat. No carpet, wires are everywhere, amp is sitting in a corner.

Guess I should finish it one day....

    Nice box btw.

cancellation is interesting when you try that arrangement.

define this "open enclosure" i'm willing to bet it has another name.

$75 for those two is a pretty good deal.

Well I have a wife to answer to so being its the only car ATM i can't do a big system, the 10" subs is a decent compromise between mywife's love of trunk space for shopping and my want of some boom, lol

Matt, there is some cancellation, but nothing terrible. I ended up taking the fold down seat/armrest thingy out of the car entirely. The woofers are facing at about a 45degree angle inward. The "box" is shaped somewhat like a "V" , but the bottom of the "V" doesnt come to a point, it's got a small spacer to keep the 2 panels held together, sorta like a "U"...little hard to describe.

All together, it barely takes up any room, and gives me a nice deep thump.

Dammit, if I could I would, I'm not at my place, so no camera. I will try to get some of its' ghetto-ness. Basically, it's 3 pieces, and almost looks like a right-angle. \_/ Alot like that...

Kinda of, like I said, i'll get some pics up eventually, I've got a long shift tomorrow at work, and I really need to carpet the 'box'...I dont wanna get all embarrassed on the internet..

The woofers give a nice deep thump, which is what I was looking for.

baffle setup and open enclosure are both terms that mean nothing because they're not real enclosures.

Di pole is a real setup and its typically speakers mounted on a baffle then placed in a certain spot in the room so that you get decent bass.

Well, that's true, it's not an enclosure, it's open. I don't really care to have a competition setup, I like my cheap woofers and cheap amp. =]
