I currently have a Kenwood KAC-9103D mono amp and my friend is selling a Kicker ZX750.1 for $180. Would the kicker amp be an upgrade from kenwood?

Kenwood KAC-9103D Mono subwoofer amplifier 900 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

Kicker ZX750.1 Mono subwoofer amplifier 750 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

that kicker amp is underrated, i had one that rated 930.1 watts RMS at 2 ohms since it is not 1 ohm stable, loved the amp. i noticed the signal to noise ratio is a little higher on the kenwood. the kicker can handle more power with 2 40 amp fuses rather than kenwoods 2 30 amp fuses. the kenwood can go down to 5 hz and the kicker goes to 20 (which, below 20hz is inaudible but it can still be felt)

so i say the numbers are on kenwoods side, it may not be THAT much of an upgrade if one at all

Keep the Kenwood. Remember, theoretically output is increased by 3db when adding TWICE the power.

Once you get up to 700 and 1000watts you're splitting hairs on benefits of output. You also get more power at 4ohms w/Kenwood. That's where I run my equipment. There's no need for 2ohm or 1ohm loads imo. Easier on your amp too.

I'd set those suckers up for a 4ohm load

1000watts MIGHT gain you 3 decibels in additional output. Seriously...there's some guys who put up 140's with just 500 watts. It's all about function...power isn't the issue.

I hit 138 with 2 10's in a sealed box on 500 watts, at 2ohm's. You dont need a whole lot of power to be loud.
