Well I finally finished it. Got it all welded together and sprayed with truck bed liner for a cleaner look:
Installed and completed:
Again, I know it's not theft proof, but hopefully it will slow a dirt-bag down long enough for me to have a chance to crush their skull.![]()
i wouldn't mount your amp on the box...
Good idea Matt, that will fix those scum bags! Nice work!!!
What do you got for a new system? Any luck at the local pawn shops or craigslist looking for your stuff?
Thanks Tim and welcome to the forum!
I got the exact same subs that were stolen because they're cheap and for the money I think they sound pretty darn good. I looked a few times at classifieds, but decided it wasn't worth my time and it was only going to make me more angry. Besides if I did find the slugs that stole from me I don't know that I'd be able to control myself within the confines of the law and would probably end up in prison.Besides, one of the subs they stole was blown anyway
and that amp was 8 years old and tired. I replaced it (1200W) with a 3000W which is much more suited for these subs. So at the end of the day it worked out okay.
not to rain on your party but...
1. those subs won't take 1.5kw so that amp is WAYY overrated...
2. i hope you didn't pay to much for it because it won't last long mounted like that.
3. if they where so cheap and 1 was blow why goto jail over it?
4. how do you have the subs wired(ohm) and model of the amp please?
6... i would love the look on a theif's face when he opens my trunk LOL
1. That amp is not throwing out 1.5kw RMS. The subs are rated for 50-300 Watts RMS and I'm giving 150 RMS watts to each. Not ideal, I know, but it's better than what I did have and that set-up went for 3 years with no probs.
2. Why won't it last long mounted like that? My last amp was mounted on the box and went for 8 years with no hiccups (possibly would've kept going but there's no way to know because it was stolen).
3. Just because someone stole from me. That's all. The point I was making was that I chose notto puruse them so I wouldn't go to prison.
4. I called a stereo shop and they told me how to wire the subs. I don't remember if I did 2 or 4 ohms. The amp is a 3000W Pyramid, I don't have the model# with me.
6.? (should've been 5. I'm guessing). Why, what do you have in your trunk?
well your exposing the amp to vibrations and thats not good for the life of it.
i'll be taking some pics of my car tomorrow
btw those subs are 400wrms on clean power if they hit hard on 150 your clipping them...
with the guy who just posted the HUGE BOX
is that a coupe? or a 4dr? and did you remove the seats to have it like that? jesus christ at that point i would seal the trunk forever
just made the front baffle like that so i can get the ports in and out.
nothing is affecting the back seats
i can also unscrew the front baffle from the box and move the box side to side. and the front baffle isn't screwed in anywhere, even so i only can move the whole thing like 1/2 inch
its a coupe, i took them out for the comps just to lazy to bolt them back in (want to get 7th gen so i can just pull them down...) and i pulled them out and but them in upside down to make it look better..
and i would seal off the trunk and glass it but the rules for my comps say it must be "removable" i can use foam and duck tape and other things that can easily be took down.
Fortunately no. It was a really "clean" steal if you can say that. I'm about 90% sure they slim-jimmed the door and then just popped the drunk. There was no damage done to any doors or windows, but they did bust out the plastic piece that the dash kit attaches to. I had to jerry-rig my new one to get it to work. When they removed the dash, they actually took the time to unplug the fog light switch which I though was really odd. They also didn't cut any wires except for the steering wheel control interface plug. Everything else they just unplugged. I was really glad they didn't ruin everything. So to show my gratitude, if I ever bump into them I'll make sure their death is painless instead of long and slow.![]()
Ok, ok, I give.
