Decided i miss my old bass, so i wanna do something cheap. I don't need heart pounding bass, just enough to enjoy my rock and rap a little more. I just want a little bit of help choosing between a few of these.

    Rockford Fosgate P2D415 - 15" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix
15" Dual 4 ohm Punch Stage 2 Subwoofer

    Power Handling:
    • Peak: 500 watts
    • RMS: 250 watts
Parabolic Triangular Geometry cone support system for reduced piston flex
30oz. double-stacked magnet assembly increases excursion capability
Compliant linear spider eliminates need for break-in period
2" anodized aluminum voice coil former stays up to 100° cooler
Reversible concealing ring hides mounting screws
Large roll surround allows for 20% greater linear excursion than standard surrounds
Stitched-in tinsel leads handle tons of power
Custom 10-AWG nickel plated push terminals
    Venturi-effect cooling design
    Frequency Response: 20-250 Hz
    Sensitivity: 86 dB

Rockford sub, generally decent from what i've heard.

    Cerwin-Vega Vega154 - 15" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix
15 Dual 4 ohm Vega Series Subwoofer

    Power Handling:
    • Peak: 400 watts
    • RMS: 200 watts
    Mica filled polypropylene cone woofer
    Red rubber surround
Bumped back plate with vented pole piece
    Woven tinsel leads
    2" Voice coil
    Sensitivity: 88 dB

Not sure on this, any experience with this brand?

    PowerBass M-154D (m154d) - 15" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix
    15" Dual 4 ohm M Series Subwoofer

    Power Handling:
    • Peak: 850 watts
    • RMS: 425 watts
4 Layer, non-pressed paper DDC (Dynamic Damping Coating) finish cone
    Large roll santoprene surround
Massive motor structure for high power handling and maximum output
Black emissive coated backplate and pole piece dome shaped to maximize air flow from the vented pole piece
Chrome push terminals to guarantee optimal power transfer from the amplifier to the subwoofer
Rubber mounting gasket allows an airtight seal to eliminate bass robbing air leaks
BASV specially designed resign coated high temperature voice coils ensure accurate linear excursion and high power handling while maximizing thermal hear dissipation
    220 oz Motor structure
    Frequency response: 22-400 Hz
    Sensitivity: 92 dB

Seems like a poor quality sub because it's made of paper, right?

15" Single 4 Ohm Frequency Series Subwoofer

    Power Handling:

    FLI Audio FF15-F2 (ff15f2) - 15" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix
    • Peak: 1200 watts
    • RMS: 400 watts
    • Minimum input: 200 watts
    Impedance: 4 Ohm
One piece absorbing polypropylene cone with FLI EYE technology
    Heavy roll butyl rubber surround
    New rubber gasket design
Dual spider for smoother movement and greater linearity
    Enhanced voice coil surround
    Nickel plated spring terminals
2” Dual layer aluminium voice coil
52 Oz Ferrite magnet is 5-1/2" in diameter and 1" thick
    Y25 Magnet rating
    Frequency response: 20-1,500 Hz
    Sensitivity: 90 dB

Big magnet, doesn't seem terrible but why such a big frequency range?

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2067C10...04.html?tp=111
then there's always a deal like this
    10" CompVR Component Subwoofer

    Power Handling:
    • Peak: 800 watts
    • RMS: 400 watts
    Dual 4 ohm model
Inverted Structural Dome Polymineral Injection Molded Cone: Remains rigid, and lowers distortion
Rear Cone Brace: Offers unmatched strength and resistance to deformation
Ribbed Santoprene Surround for Linear Cone Motion
    Silver-Coated Stamped Steel Basket
Stitched Surround: Ensures the cone and surround won't separate, even under the highest loads
High-temp Polyimide Film Voice Coil Former
    Dual Ultra-Length Voice Coils
    Perimeter Venting
    Sleeved High-Power Tinsel Lead Wires
    Spring Loaded Nickel-Plated Terminals

    Buy one get one free

Plan would be to wire all setups for a 2 ohm load on some cheap amp.

i just got all of my stereo equipment out of my truck that the oxycontin girl totaled, and i now have 2 12" J L Audio w2 d2v2 subs, and a two month old amp for them that i am going to put into the GTP. i need to get a new box, as i take the GTP snowboarding. does anybody have a sideways sub setup in their car?

With that type of setup, you are going to loose a lot of your volume due to the way the sub is firing. Towards the trunk lid is the best.

that's what i was thinking. i will just do one 12 and bridge the amp. i'll put the other 12 in my work truck. i like it!

zr1vette, you want the power for your amp that will be powering the subs to come straight from the battery, with an inline fuse close the battery.

Right, cause the monsoon amp would have insufficint size of wire to power another amp. So you will have to run wire from your battery to the trunk.

i guess i should also double check my thought process for wiring this. I'm planning on leaving the stock head unit, and since voltage is what's important for an audio signal, shouldn't i be able to wire in parallel with the monsoon amp input? that way they're both drawing the same signal at the same voltage?

if you guys read correctly, i'm not talking about amp power. I'm talking about audio signal.

something like this? Scosche LOC80 2-channel line output converter at Crutchfield.com
do i have to hook it up straight to the HU or can i put it back just in front of the monsoon amp? Probably noise would become an issue if I put it too far back, right?

Nope i did mine with the bose amp so similar situation, and had no issues with noise. But remember it needs to be the amplifed signal otherwise it will make little to no noise at all.

Because the converter uses the signal from the amplifer to the speaker, not from the deck to amplifer. The signal has to be amplifed for the converter to work properly easy way to put it.
