It appears that the LED on my factory radio is out. Is it replaceable? I just got a cassette player to install for a aux in, and I like the cleaner factory look. So I won't replace the factory deck if I don't have to.

yes it should be replaceable the led is under metal case. you just have to locate where the led is. here is a 02 gtp radio that the clock light went out. i cut off the top where the led is locate and put in new led. i end up getting another radio cause about 2 months later the clock number was starting to fade off again.

eBay has identical radios for $50-$60, so I may end up going that route. But I'll try the LED route first. Was it a standard light bulb, or something special?

My luck I'll destroy the radio trying to solder it off and on. Guess I'll live without the display. It disappeared once before, then a few button presses and it came back. Or start bidding on eBay until I get lucky.

@ cutting the radio apart! See my web site. The bulb is easily changed out, even for an LED. You can get a nice 360° LED from SUPER BRIGHT LEDS home
    The GPs are long gone...

I found some AC Delco LED listed on an eBay auction that says it covers my radio. Further research led me to find out GM did use replaceable bulbs originally, but after a few years switched to soldered ones. I'm hoping my radio is one of the older plug in ones; I just have to figure out what bulb type it is once I get the radio off.

Which LED would I use BackiInBlack? I think the GM one is 914.

Got the light out, it appears to be the replaceable kind. Now I'm hoping to find a local GM dealer that has the part instead of waiting a week for eBay. I'd rather not have to keep putting the dashboard on and off.

    Here ya go....

    16208443

They are about 9 bucks at the dealership. I think you can get them from GMPARTSDIRECT for about 6, but with shipping your still at the 9 dollar mark. Chances are the local dealer wont carry it, and will have to order it.

It wasn't the light, or I did something else to the radio when trying to replace the bulb. I got one from Corvetteradios.com, but no light.
