My friend just bought these for his car, Amazon.com: Infinity 609CS 270W (Peak) 6-1/2 x 6-3/4 Two-Way Component System Speakers (Pair): Electronics .. he wants me to install them. Should any cheap 2 channel amp be fine to power these? He only has front speakers and tweeters in his car, nothing in the rear. Also, I don't believe he plans on doing a sub, if he does.. he's just going to get a new amp then.

why doesnt he just buy a pair of 6x9s and use a 4 channel 200 watt amp to power all the speakers?

he doesn't even have rear speakers, just the front and tweeters. that's why i told him to get those components. I'm just not sure what power amp would be good for that set.

1 channel per speaker and match the RMS wattage up

right so the woofer in the door + tweeter = 1 speaker right? so for the two speakers and 2 tweeters in the car, he just needs a 2 channel. up to 90w rms right?

yes the speaker and tweeter are wired together and if each pair of speaker and tweeter is 90w RMS then 90w RMS per channel is what you want
