Um, the time that one lambda takes up is SO small that it won't be "more tuned to the beat" but you just won't have cancellation due to the two different sources being 180*out of phase.
The culprit is cancellation, a phase "flip" switch has NOTHING to do with time alignment really. Either its in phase or its not. Generally you get the phase right, then the time alignment takes care of itself.
Unless of course you're a multiple of 360* out of phase in which case you'd have no phase issues but lots of time alignment issues.
Its all fun and stupid all at the same time since no one cares to find out the reasons why certain things work and others dont.
