That's when I was 17.. and it was on an Audio Control mic doing it USACi style. 150's were easy to pull off on the AC mic.

I'll have to get a video this weekend of the 146.x on the TL.

There's a lot more to SPL than just power. A lot of time and thought has gone into design of the box, and certain things done inside the car.. placement of sun visors, vents open/close, glovebox open or closed... all those tiny things can gain people .2 all the way to a full 2 dB

yes yes i know there more than power.... but 700watts 145+ on termlab is good a score.

i did some comps in the early 2000's, but never really "got" into it.

Dont care what brand subs 146 dB on I dont care what mic on 700 watts is pure BS unless I seen it in person or have a Vid. Lets put this in perspective. I had a 2000 GP with a 7 cubic foot massive box 3.5 cubic feet per sub tuned at 38hz. In a snail shell box. 2 12inch MA Audio Hard Kore subs running at .5 OHM mono at 2200 RMS off a MA Audio HK802 amp that was 8800 watts max. Now I had the car metered with a termpro right after it was done and hit 148 on the dash of a 2000 GP you claiming you hit 146.2 dB on 700 watts RMS I dont thing so! Like I said I call BS unless I seen a video or in person. Oh and my set up had a 180 amp alt. and 2 xtatic batteries in the tire well of the trunk. 146 @ 700 watts no.

Termpro not the same as termlab.....
and on the 700W ever think he just has efficient subs?
who cares about watts max? you won't see it
he said hes gonna get a video

btw areo ports = more efficient

First off, its walled, inta win right there.

Second, I've seen 135 on two eights that aren't efficient and are meant for SQ not SPL (see inefficient) with 1000 watts so 146 on a walled more efficient setup isn't that terribly unbelievable. Especially if you match the resonance of the cabin to the tune of your subs.

    What is that value btw?

Not sayings its not possible just but i think its BS until i see the video i seen the pics of his AQ subs and the box. Nice set up no doubt but i dont see 146 off 700 watts. Efficient subs sure their 10s and they dont have the cone area of 2 12s. Just saying 146 is a damn high score for 700 watts dont care what brand the subs and amp are. If I see a vid Ill stop and give credit where its due. Yeah my set up with the 2 12s and and 8800 watts was dynamated entire car but behind the dash and batteries in the tire well like he has.

if your supposedly hitting 146 now off 700 watts and want to hit 150 you will need at least 1400 watts to hit 149. 3dB gain takes at least double the power. Here read this. Car Audio Speakers Overview
Not trying to start an Edick thread war but I do not believe 146 with 700 watts. Ive done a few comps back in the day too and had my share of 140+dB setups.

Got a new amp... Supposed to be good for 2 kW at 1 Ohm, presently have it wired to 4 and I'm seeing 123 dB max on my rat shack meter so probably in the neighborhood of 125.

    Its all I need

Vet...I'm not so sure we should discredit the man. 700 watts RMS could also be anywhere from 1000watt to 2000watt spikes.

I've heard of a 6.5" sub hitting 140's in a crazy ass enclosure...it was a "horned" subwoofer or something rather...Anyways, seeing isn't always believeing and vice versa. Ever heard of that grand national from the 80's? Apparently it was hitting 130's on midbass using horned drivers.

Horns are crazy loud, but they never sound good.

Typically sound like you're holding your hands cupped behind your ears.

Just do high sensiitivity pro drivers and ribbon tweeters (not in cars though... I hear wind will **** them up pretty easily).

Just calm down. I don't own a Term Lab, so until I go to my friends house an hour away.. probably this weekend (I'll make a special trip because of all this..)

There will be a video, and it will be a long one walking around the car, showing the entire setup.. I understand that you don't believe me, and that's fine, and it's also good that someone called me out, because don't worry.. I won't punk out. Vids will be coming.

The amp is Kicker 2500.1. Subs wired to 4 ohm. I have a 4x impedance rise from the box.. therefore the amp is seeing 16 ohm spikes at times.

The amp was clamped at RMS, therefore yes, it might be seeing spikes higher.. but 700 was the RMS it was clamped at with a Fluke. If I can get ahold of my buddy's Fluke again, and it clamps out to something different, I will update.

And Matt - my car's not walled...?

clamping an amp and rms are not the same, I can under stand clamping an amp to get the stable consistent power from it with out clipping and heating issues. I will say thats def the right way to run an amp tho most never take the time or know how to do it. If your talking clean signal off that Kicker 2500.1 running those AQ subs Id think thats far more realistic and Id maybe believe the 146 then. Not very many people take the time to do things like that. And if you are hitting 146 off that Id be really impressed. I had 3 different boxes in my car all different tuning same size tho. 36hz 38hz and 40hz mine hit the 149.6 @ 38hz. With a sloted port i dont like aero ports at all. Loud yes, sound not so much. Most Ive heard whistle but everyone knows car audio is at least 80% install.

    Video -

    YouTube - 2 10" AQ HDC3 almost 147 from trunk.

Notice the severely UNCLIPPED signal that the TL read...

Never mentioned this stuff - Only running off stock ALT. And gain on amp is up around 1/4 with bass boost @ +0. Wired at 4ohms.. (D1 subs) and figured a 4x box impedance rise.

Oh yeah, that was only volume click 30, with sub at +0 .. There's still a little more to come out of that box, but that's not till the end of the season.
