Hello,
The short answer to this question is...yes you can. I did this with success in my car. You will need the following parts:
(1) HUD projector
(2) HUD metal tray
(3) HUD dashpad (the dashpad has a hole cut in it for the projector)
(4) HUD dimmer switch (this includes a cable that connects to the projector for adjusting the height of the display on the inside of your windshield)
(5) Modified plastic housing that surrounds your headlight and wiper switches (there is a hole in the housing underneath the wiper switch - this is where the HUD dimmer switch mounts)
(6) Mounting hardware (be sure to retain ALL of the screws if you pull these parts out of a junkyard car)
Your car *should* be pre-wired for the HUD projector and HUD dimmer switch. The easiest way to tell if your car has the wiring is to remove your wiper switch pod. Look for a wiring harness and plug in the recess behind the switch. It should be folded over and taped together. This is the harness that plugs into the HUD dimmer switch. Assuming you can get the parts from a junkyard car, this is a very easy thing to do. Some folks have cut holes in their dashpads and stuff like that, but I'd just recommend looking for these cars in yards. If you actually get moving on this project and need more specifics, PM me. I'd be glad to help. Dude, that HUD is the COOLEST thing once you get it installed and working.
If you want to install a Driver Information Center (DIC), I can help with that too. Good luck! Nice to see another 1st gen W-body owner looking to improve their ride.
