Installed a GM12-AUXV12 adapter in my 05 GP [stock radio, obviously, in dash cd player, no changer] and while it works, it sounds like complete and utter ****, and is extremely heavy on the right side.

I have tried separating the 12V and grounds away from the main harness, switch RCA sides, and cable, using RCA->RCA, tried 3 laptops, an ipod, a zune, and 4 phones as input sources. tried all 3 configurations on the J2 jumper in the box.

i really want to get this working so i dont have to switch to an aftermarket deck [keeping it as stock as possible for the moment] if anyone has heard of any issues like this please let me know.

    thanks!

can you describe the sound that you get out of it now better? crackly? alternator whine?

if it's alternator whine, you may need a ground loop isolator, if it's crackly/etc it may be a defective unit. (assuming you've adjusted the output levels of the source to rule out overdriving the signal)

its not alt whine, i guess you could say its crackly.

when the right side of the unit has signal the right front speaker is loud as hell, staticy, garbled, and in general sounds distorted and ****ty. if only the left side is in then the left front speaker sounds fine, but its only that speaker, nothing else is getting signal.

the previous owner had this same unit installed in this same car before i purchased it, but removed it prior to sale and just gave it to me loose. so the unit shouldnt be faulty per say

I would say something is messed up with the unit or there is a wiring issue somewhere causing your problem.

gonna try swapping the unit with the one one in my roomates vette since there the same unit, that should narrow it down to the unit or the wiring
