I have this radio and love it Matches very well with the interior. Probably has more tuning capability than you're ready for. Specifically, Time Alignment and Cross-overs will help your stock speakers sound much better.

Stay away from 6x9's. Those speakers aren't shaped properly for proper reproduction of sound. I think 6.5" are the size of the door speakers.

The thing I don't like about is that it doesnt have a port for USB access. That is why I love my Pioneer 6000 HU. It can be adapted to the iPod, but I just use the USB function only. I have a 16gb thumb drive I can hook up to it and have the same controls as the iPod has. And at a fraction of the cost.

The Pioneer Premier line is even better. Had I of known more about them back when I got this HU, I would have gotten one of those, but yet I am still happy with my purchase.

I'm not a fan of iPod but I went ahead and bought one finally (friends and family will never know) and installed into Alpines AiNet. The stereo controls everything and the ipod is out of sight.

The 9887 is a great choice because of it's tuning/processing capability on the cheap. It has a very clean signal too.

Throw an EQ in the configuration and you have all the processing you could need.

    Tip:

Time Alignment (for 9887): The furthest speaker is set at 0in/cm. The next furthest speaker = distance from furthest speaker minus the speaker measured. i.e. Right Rear is 5 feet from driver and Left Rear is 4 feet from driver. Set 1 foot in the alpine head unit for the distance of Left Rear channel and Right Rear is set at 0 feet.

Do this for all the speakers. Also, as long as tweeters are within 6 inches of the mid the speakers can be considered "one unit".

the time alignment/time correction can be set on the Alpine website in your profile along with EQ settings that information can then be burned onto a CD then download it into the HU. I can do that with the 9815 so I would guess you can do it with that model of HU also. Make tuning the HU a bit easier.
