Another member has a problem like yours. I had that problem years ago, I changed the spark plug wires and it solved the noise problem.....it's kind of a high pitched whine right?
The stock plug wires were not very heavy.
Check your plug wires that might be your problem.

yea, it is a high pitch whine, but i changed all the wires and plugs last year(ngk plugs, and the best wires autozone had). my battery keeps dying, i have a feeling i do have a ground issue, but have been unable to locate the grounds and fusible links.

Your battery is still dying? That would indicate either an alternator issue or something else there.

As for your high pitch whinning noise. The fix I used is quite simple and should work for yours as well. You just cut a piece of 12-16ga wire and trace it around the RCA jacks of the HU.

Here is a picture to what I am talking about. I did this to my Pioneer 5000 HU. It has worked wonders for many others out there, and it is not GP specific related.

If that does not work, then there is an issue with the HU, there are internal fuses that sometimes blow and they have to be repaired by expert/trained electronics tech to replace those tiny fuses inside the HU. Honestly the never bought the whole changing spark plug wires theory for the simple fact I am currently running PRJ 10.4mm wires, some of the thickest and best made wires out there and when I replaced my stock HU with my Pioneer 5000 HU, the whine was immediate. It wasn't till like 6 months later I learned of the above pictured method to resolve grounding issues with my HU. As stated before it works on other HU's besides just Pioneer HUs.

    Good Luck

What if I am using the RCA plugs? How does this fix work?

Simple, the RCAs slide on as usual. They will smash the wire as shown above between the backplate and the RCAs you put on, this will help complete ground between the RCAs and HU. And walla no more noise.

i'll give it a try, do you think that could be draining my battery? autozone says the battery and alternator check good.

Nope that would not be the problem. If your battery is draining, the it is more than likely the alt or the battery, possibly the connections to the connections to the battery. Unless you are running your HU when the engine is off, then yes it will drain your battery no doubt, but not while the car is running, the battery is being charged by the alt while its running, so drain there would not be the problem.

u r hearing engine noise...engine noise usually comes through the rcas...but since its commin thru the speakers i would try an extra ground wire...or geddylees idea...i know pioneer rcas go bad sometimes...usually when u re-solder the rca jacks internally they r permenatly fixed
