No need to mod them. They also make a kit for a 6.5 inch speaker. You even get to use the infinity grill and tweeter, both of which mount directly to the enclosure. I know they are pricy but that is exactly what you want. They look beautiful and the speakers fit and sound great, the plastic even matches the factory. I have a pair of infinity components in my front doors and A-pillars. Sound great. But I would take a hard look at the q-logic kick panel kit before you write them off.
