I just got a 2001 GTP 3 weeks ago. I put 15 gallons in the tank then. My wife a week ago ran it out of gas and tried to start it for a minute. I put a couple gallons in and took it and filled it all the way up to the top of the neck. Anyway it's been a week and the gas gauge still reads full and the D.I.C. still shows 359 miles but shows I've used 15.1 gallons and the trip odometer shows 302 miles. Three times today my wife said it fluctuated from full to empty then goes back to full and the D.I.C. dropped to normal.
    Any Ideas?

I pulled the cover off of the fuel pump it all looks OK. I cleaned it off and checked the connections even with the key just turn forward it goes up and down but mostly stays on full i just disconnected the battery to see if maybe it will work. I'm going to try tearing into the dash to check the display light for the stereo and I'm going to check around for something wrong behind there.

couldn't find anything and now the D.I.C. is so dim you can't hardly see it. I just filled the tank and it's still going up and down.

It sounds to me like you may have a corroded variable resistor in your fuel sending unit. Try adding a bottle of Techron Concentrate fuel additive. You can find this at just about any place that sells automotive products. I had a very similar issue in a Grand Am I used to own. A few Techron treatments fixed the problem.

It's the fuel level sensor. Common issues on w-bodies.
