well i didn't think about the coils having a max rms load of 250 to each, so i knew something here was missing. i need to know why things need to be done so i can make the adjustments in the future. The whole coil thing seems obvious but i kind of overlooked it. I guess I always figured t was just for impedance configuration solely. Plus I'm on a tight budget and want to buy the right amplifier.

now i think of it, i have ran these type rs at one time or another on one coil. I'm going to have to check their impedance make sure i didnt screw anything up. lol

yup, just checked them and they are putting out perfect resistance. thank god, those things r expensive. The only reason i got them was because my father gets alpine wholesale rates. thats the only real car audio company deals with.

everyone loves kicker. My roommate has 12" L7 powered by a nice ass RF amp. To me it sounds horrible, and very distorted. ONce again could be installation. I'm not a huge fan of shaped subs. I feel like a omni sound should come from a round object. SOny xplodes demonstrate how much funny shaped subs=fail.

Kicker squares can be loud when done right but i have ALWAYS had mechanical noise from them. They split around the corners at times too and gotta love the smell they put off when the coils get warm. Only exception is the SoloX. Those are just plain nasty but I still rather have my w7s

I agree, sony is in walmart for a reason. I remember when I was younger it took me forever to persuade everyone how bad sony was. Everyone got suckered into their cheesy marketing hype SONY XPLODEs they are EXTREME!!!!!! more like they are extreme crap.

im not gonna read the whole thread and i know you dont wanna talk about impedence and that you know how to wire speakers, but that is a big part of your decision. either way, can you post a link to the amps, theres more info needed if you want a real techical answer.

but in short and from the info i know, just run with the mono amp. there is no real big reason either way on why or why not to run with the mono amp with the info you gave us, but overall with a mono there is less complexity with them. no channels or different transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, etc... to run through. more basic design, less components to drop signal across, and more basic wiring configuration inside.

i would run on the JL boner, if they were priced to there ability. no reason to have a 72% markup on all products just for your name.

speakers dont have resistance, they have impedence :fyi:

speaking of solo-x's i'mma run 2 12" solo-x's with a 2500 watt kicker amp when i get back from Iraq, I think they are 1500watt RMS...not sure, have to double check on that and the size of amp sometime when I feel like ordering them...we're going home from NTC here i think april 6-13th, then fly out of ft. bragg on the 27th i believe to kuwait... plus my daughter is due april 9th sooo I have alot going on to worry about some kickers ;P
