I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP and the left front speakers recently stopped working. I was wondering what the possible causes of this would be and how to fix the problem. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

Stock speakers are cheaply made of thin paper cone and don't last. You can check the speaker by pulling it out and ohming it out with a meter, i would suggest just replacing the fronts and you will be greatly satisfied. Did they ever pop/crack or just all of a sudden just not work?

I have the same problem but mine kicks in sometimes.. usually when I turn the volume way up but then its too loud .. bad connection? suggestions??
I kinda got the same problem i put in a valor dvd head unit and not my back right and front speakers dont work just the back left works but ill pry just put in new speakers and run them to their own amp
I'm going to assume you have a stock headunit... It suddenly not working is usually due to several factors... That channel in the headunit died, there's a loose connection/wire (rare if you have stock), or the voice coil somehow burnt out in the speaker resulting in NO sound. Deteriorated speakers still produces a sound, crackling, pop, etc.
I'm having the same problem (left front won't work). I replaced both front speakers and still can't get sound out of the left. So the problem most likely is with my headunit? Well, I have a an aftermarket unit and it seems to be working fine. I just hope I can get this working, so I don't have to take it into a shop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem with a 2008 Grand Prix. Does the door pop straight off or do you have to slide it forward or backwards? I know the deck is good and want to check the speaker connection.
never mind i found out how to remove the door on another thread.
