Not sure if this is the correct thread but wanted to update on my HUD project, cut the dash out today and it works! Just have one question on whether its supposed to be off center, or directly in line with the steering wheel.

Doesn't it only fit one location from the shroud/dash cover thing? I can take a picture if you need one..

No I have it bolted in, except it seems like it is sort of lopsided? If you could take a picture of what it looks like with the steering wheel in shot that would be awesome!

I have to go down there in a few, but it's dark. I'll see how my phone does, lol.

I also have this issue where some of the display is cutoff to my left eye. I can see clearly with my right eye but it's either halfway there or not. It might just be how I sit lol

Had a couple other things, sorry.

So here's how it looks. Far as I could from driver's seat, close, flash and no flash.

Final note, there is a coating on the windshield of a stock equipped 04+ Grand Prix. Can see it in the right angle and light, but it's difficult to photograph.

Hmm... I wonder what kind of coating that is, and whether it can be purchased and applied...

It's a little hard to see but it doesn't seem centered in the little area that it should appear in

I don't think so, but I only have limited experience. The way I've seen special coatings (titanium, cobalt, even more exotic than those) applied, is using the chambers on the following link. I worked at that exact company edging out aperture on delicate lenses. http://www.reoinc.com/why-think-reo/...ss-engineering

Those are much more specialized chambers. Basically, the material you want is superheated to a near-gaseous state, then blasted at incredible speed at the desired surface. Sunglasses are coated similarly from my experience at one of those dives.

They do however, sell the correct windshield or one could be salvaged. I don't know that it helps with focus, probably more for glare.

After seeing the above pic, I don't think it'll help that issue. That kinda looks off, like you said.

Insurance will replace the windshield once a year in AK, I'll just have to get a HUD and claim it when it does finally crack... It's already got a chip, and the wife's has a nice big crack as well.
