Hi all, new member here with a question about rear camber. While having the GXP serviced the other day I was told that the rear tires are wearing on the inside edge because of camber needing adjustment but that GM didn't make these cars with adjustable rear camber so a "camber kit" needs to be installed. Cost is about $300.00. Anyone ever hear of such a thing and if so, what did you do for yours?

    Thanks in advance.

    cc

what you need to do is 1, stop going to the dealer. unless its under warranty.

    2. go and buy whats called camber bolts, you take the upper strut bolt out and put this cam bolt in its place, they cost like 20 bucks or less. install them your self. then take the car in for an alignment asap.

Ordered bolt kit from Auto Parts Warehouse. Seems none of the parts suppliers around here have them in stock.

Thanks again for the advice. BTW $65.01 with tax online vs. $165 if I let the dealer supply them and install them.

Hmmm, not where I searched. I always sort by lowest price first and $29.8x per side is the best I could find. And that's with free shipping and $5 tax.

Even ebay was more. Didn't see any coupon codes.

Damnit, someone turned on the Amazon filter in my Google search engine.

You are correct sir, I suck at parts shopping...must have been paying Corvette tax too long and started thinking those were normal prices.

I must remember to have a talk with my wife about messing with my parts searching tools, wink wink say no more.

    Rear camber is cool though.

But really, the biggest issue is that you can't rotate the tires like normal. And if you run directional tires, they will never move and jsut keep wearing the same spots. The camber kit will help reduce some camber but the other problems will still be there, but that comes with owning that car.

It's getting to be that way with any performance car these days. Can't rotate Corvettes, Vipers, GTR...

dont the gxp's have different width rims in the front than the rear anyway making it so u cant rotate the tires even if u dont have directionals

you can rotate them, but having the 8" wheels in the back with 7" wheels in the front is kinda sucky.

i like the option of finding another two 8" wheels for the front or just going aftermarket with a matching set all around.

You can also rotate them from side to side as long as they're not unidirectionals.

My preference is the same size at each corner. I get why the fronts have a wider offset but not why the rears aren't matched to the fronts.
