I just installed a k & n cai in my 07 ss and I've noticed zero change. With the exception of disconnecting the battery, I followed the install directions. After installing and doing some research I went back and disconnected the battery for 40 mins and reconnected. Still no change. Im going to go back over everything and make sure everything tight but is there something I'm forgetting to do?

You aren't missing out on anything.

K&N can claim to the moon and back they installing a aftermarket intake will give you such and such horsepower and torque numbers and improved fuel economy but it's never going to be true.

You should notice a change in sound but you aren't going to see any real improvements in the power department.

Doubtful that you'll get a response even worth reading.

They have your money now and that's good enough for them. They charge an absurd amount of money because they can and you really get nothing but looks to show for it.

You could have created your own intake and be left with similar results for 1/4th the price.

Are there some cars where an intake will make a big difference? Absolutely. Is it the norm? Absolutely not.

I didn't buy based off a sales pitch. I had a promo code that made it 57$ cheaper. I spoke to advance auto and they said I can simply return it. Now that I know k&n is all hype what is a good brand to go with for an intake?

    Simple answer is nobody.

Everyone here just makes their own for these cars like I mentioned earlier.

A tube off the throttle body, your factory MAF, tube and a long cone filter will give you the same thing as a K&N with way less cost.

As Scotty said, make one. I went more fancy with mine than most people do and I still only have around $50 in it. If I had to pay for the filter it would be around $75 in it.

    The intake is fine.

The restriction is in your downpipe and in the tune.

Do those, that'll help. The stock intake on the GXP isn't restrictive at all...it basically just needs a high flow air filter. Everything else is just looks and noise. The intake manifold itself is the restriction. It bottlenecks down around 45mm~ after the 75~mm throttle body. Upgrading to an LS1/2/6 intake manifold and TB is where the real gains are going to be had.

What are you expecting? How is your fuel economy before and after?

Your not the first to recommend changing those parts but I'm not super knowledgeable like everyone here. Is there a thread that can get me started in the right direction.

Because research is the way to go.

    The LS4 isn't a bad platform...it's just limited.

The GXP has the u-bend in it like the 97-03 cars. You don't need much knowledge to read. It's the best thing you can do before diving into something.

Have the k&n and have no complaints. I bought this cold air intake because of the discounted price before. Didn't notice any gain but it looks good and the sound is really nice.
