Ok guys I would say this is normal. Just think about it. your engine and trans is "covered and wrapped". Not only that but inside of both are fluids that reach up to 200-220+ degrees F. Even if your cars sits and cools all night it most likely will never be the same as the ambient.
Think about it like this... if you want to keep something warm you cover or wrap it up and it will stay warmer longer than just sitting it out on a counter top. Everything cools from the outside-in. The hood, fire wall, fenders, etc keep the warmpth in.
