I've never heard of the dip stick oil change method, so I need some opinions please. I discovered it today through the deal HERE on a device that does it. If the deal is dead by the time you see this, there is another one HERE for reference. I then found a basic how-to on the process HERE. The benefit to this, is I don't have to climb under the car. My main question, is can I get to the oil filter without jacking the car up? This is on a Grand Prix GXP, by the way. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey I have no clue. Some articles said it was better because it pulled out more oil than the conventional way. I forgot about the magnetic drain plug part, that's a good point. But, since the GXP has an aluminum block, it wouldn't really magnetize anything would it?

The magnetic drain plug is to collect the actual shavings that are attracted to the magnet from re-circulating back into the rotating assembly....not to be attracted to the block.

i had one of these set ups a while back, used it to change the oil on my boat engine, i/o to getting a pan under the engine was one thing getting back up top with out spilling it was another story.

i really see no reason to change your cars oils this way but it does have other great uses. like if you over fill the engine with oil, or your trans. and sucking rear end gear oil out of rear ends of rwd cars. power steering pumps, and so on.

what ever you are trying to suck the fluid from, they always work better when the fluid is hot or at least good and warm.

i didn't have a electric one, mine was vacuum operated, with a pump like a bike tire pump set deal and a 2 gallon gas can.

like one of these, worked well for a boat.

Wonder if this system would work for changing the oil in the supercharger? Any opinions.
