I may have stumbled across a way to disable the DOD that anyone can do in their driveway.. After picking up the GXP from Triple Edge I noticed my DOD no longer engaged. I detuned and flashed back to stock before I took it in for the transmission. With no cat the Engine light was always on. Had me worried all the way home that something serious could be wrong. When I got home I plugged in the Tech 2 and found my OPSU was bad. Since the DOD operates on oil pressure and an electrical signal to the solinoids I can only assume if the system can't see oil pressure it's fail safe is to disable. If someone wanted to check my theory they could unplug the OPSU on their intake under their throttle body and see if they get the same result. Granted your Engine light will come on but since mine is on anyway it doesn't both me.

Displacement on Demand!! It's on the V8's. OP don't worry about it, it saves you little gas, many people like it to be disabled.

If you would just pay attention to which forum you're posting silly questions to, Hippo wouldn't have to come in and teach you about cars.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I want to disable the DOD on my GXP but don't want the Engine Check Light on all the time as a result. Anyone know any other ways to accomplish this? Right now it runs great, but I hate the DOD system kicking in at low speeds......and the noise the engine makes when I'm coasting at idle with DOD engaged....sounds like a bag of bolts! As soon as DOD disengages, it goes quiet and purs like a cat - anyone any ideas? Thanks.

    - - - - - UPDATE - - - - -

I have found a local 'tuner' who is able to disable the DoD system on my GXP. I will be getting this done tomorrow and will report back my experience (which will hopefully be positive). He said he is going to set the temperature setting really high so it never allows the DoD system to activate. This should disable the system without throwing any error lights. We shall see.....

    - - - - UPDATE #2 - - - - -

Okay, was finally able to get my GXP tuned and DoD disabled (a simple 'disable DoD' check box in the tuner software apparently!)....and it is SO much better - none of that stupid noise and engine bogging down - plus I'm hopeful this will reduce or eliminate my oil consumption issue.

While he was in there - he also changed some other settings - tightened up the shifts at wider throttle opening (much quicker shifts), more fuel at wide open throttle, timing changes, overdrive moved to 55mph, and several other small adjustments (fans cut in at lower temp etc). Well worth it and the car is much nicer to drive now. He is charging $250 but being a local guy, mine was a little less for cash and worth every penny!

    Where and how?

I've read and been told by several mechanics that disabling the DoD can prevent the oil loss.....where else is it going?

Dod disabling will slow down your oil loss for sure. But the pcv design on our vehicles suck up mad amounts of oil. Fix those two and you will be golden
