Hi, I'm new here, this is my first post, but I've worked on cars my whole life, so we'll skip the small talk. haha

I bought a new torque strut mount from rock auto for my 2008 GP GXP, it is an Anchor 3090, and is listed as "rear". I pretty sure there is only one? I think the front/rear orientation is dependent on how "they" view the engine sitting in the car.

Long story short, the new mount is an inch or so longer than the stock one? I called Rock and they called Anchor and Anchor swears it's the correct part, I'm telling them it isn't, and Rock isn't working with me here.

Anyone else experience this? It is only $16, but I need the correct part to replace mine.

    thanks,
    Eric

Rear of the motor should be the Firewall side, and it does appear that is the only one.

That part is listed as a rear for the 2008 GXP.

I would go to a dealer and ask if they have one, or see if they can order one then compare them in the parts department to see if your stock is supposed to be the longer or shorter.

If the GXPs are like the 3800s, you can get shorter dogbones (or as the GXP calls them "torque strut mounts"). Yours may be this kind for some reason, or a recall could have taken place.

Thanks for the reply. So, you are saying there is one by the firewall? I only see one and it is up front by the rad. I know the 3800 have two up front.

Well, the only one I found on different websites was labeled as rear. I'm not sure why they would label something at the front of the motor the rear.

Parts are generally labeled from the drivers seat as far as direction goes unless its engine, then its generally where it is from the front of the engine bay.

Hopefully someone with a little more GXP experience can step in and clarify it a little more, because as it is, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Edit: They could be referring to this part as the front of the mount as a whole and the other portion as the rear, but that still doesn't explain your length issue...

The 2866 is the correct number, the 3090 are for the Chevys with the 5.3, Rock is in the process of changing their number. The torque strut is the same as the v6 cars. Thanks.
