I've ordered all of my parts so far online and I haven't had a problem. Sometimes it's cheaper to go through one of those dealer internet wholesale websites (I've used gmpartsdirect.com) and sometimes it's cheaper at NAPA or OReilleys. If the parts store you went to can't find the GXP, they might turn up the Monte SS or Impalla SS (05-08's), although I wouldn't trust the people at a parts store that couldn't figure out how to select GXP or 5.3L from the menu.

I've already got the water pump. A friend at Gm dealership got me the hook up. Now I'm trying to install it. It's not easy to get too. I've heard I have to raise the engine or someone said I can cut throught the wheel shroud...

I misunderstood. You'll get to have fun with the serpentine belt. I'd take off the dog bone and pull the battery for room to work, but then it is all about getting the belt off and on. I'd see if your friend at the dealership can get ahold of the proper tool (I have EN-47988 in my GXP parts list from a service manual page that someone posted somewhere, but that's not an 8 digit GM part number) to get the belt on and off cause I've heard it's a bear. The water pump itself should be a breeze. As far as I can tell, the spec for the bolts is 11 ft*lbs.

Yes it is... Were 7 hrs in and have the pump on, but can't get the belt back on. Don't ever attempt this... It's worth the 450 to have it done. Made the call, getting the tool on Monday. It's gonna be a long weekend! Thanks for the help!

Hr 10 and mission accomplished. It's good to have friends!!! A bear doesn't even describe the belt. Bigfoot is more like it. Info and help are hard to find...Just like our elusive friend the yeti. If anyone needs help on this I have all the gory details. Once again if you can, pay to have it done. If not enlist some friends, this is not a one person job. By the way anyone want to buy a 05 pontiac gxp with a new water pump! I'll make you a good deal. lol Thanks nmp0098
