GXP is only 40 pounds heavier, and has 40+ hp and 40+ ft-lbs tq over the GTP/GT, giving it a better hp/tq to weight ratio. A decently modded supercharged 3.8 will walk a 5.3; but stock vs stock, 5.3 will win all day long.
Like I said I got a 02 Modded GTP and I got a Damn Near Stock 06 Gxp and the GXP put's up Better Times with the same Driver.... And we all know GM Always down grades Specs on horsepower, Dynoed mine after I baby'd to to the 1500 mark and the GXP dynoed at 320, after my Intake, Exaust, Mass Airflow Sensor, and SuperChips Flash Paq im at the 500 mark, Might i add all under 2k

    See I can play nice

No Bolt-ons GXP is putting down anywhere near 500 CRANK hp, let alone 400. This isn't bashing it is a fact. Dyno sheet please? The Turbocharged GXP put down numbers around 480-500 WHEEL Horsepower. I'm just curious to know how you got almost 200 horsepower from a intake/exhaust/tune.

    +20 Magnaflow
Humm we are at 385 Already Then You Need to Run 93 Octain or higher,
Then while your flash Paq is in custom tuning Mode__(Classified)___(read the book it came with)

It's great that you made this statement since now we know you're talking out your ass. He can't do the math since you're using ricer math and adding up the magical HP numbers on products.

The 5.3L is not under rated from the factory. It has 303HP at the CRANK stock. This is verified by tons of the 2006+ Impala SS owners at NAIOA who have had their car dyno'd and get about 245-250HP at the wheels. This is the stock base line. FYI, there is no way to dyno your car at the crank (like you're claiming with the numbers you're quoting) without pulling the engine. No one who knows anything about cars refers to the crank HP. All that matters is what is going to the wheels.

You do not get those kinds of gains from tunes, catbacks, and from silly sensors. Produce a dyno sheet and disappoint yourself. A modded out 5.3L with ported/polished heads, cam, exhaust upgrades, and a good tune put down 278HP at the WHEELS (which is an estimated 346.25 crank HP). You can see the dyno yourself here:

North American Impala Owners Association - Garage - mixerda's 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Just click on the icon next to his run in the "dyno run" table.

So either put up or shut up.

Exactly. If he got those gains with those mods, I want part numbers of everything that was installed and parameters for the tune.
    This one has a V8.
Why not just make a V6 faster?

Kinda like getting a smaller s/c pulley. You can gain a certain amount of HP w/ the needed supporting mods. If only our cars got the claimed horsepower from each bolt-on we added. Think mine'd be around 320. Heh don't we all wish = D

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You are so lucky I was drinking something when I read that or I would have ruined my monitor. You are such a noob on SO many levels and you don't even know it, do you?

    LOL

It also goes to show you that you know nothing about the GXP so let me tell you this little bit like Sabre pointed out. 303hp stock. That is to the crank. You have a 20%-ish loss through the drivetrain to make the power, so you go back and do the math anyway, since I am playing nice too and giving you a LITTLE chance to redeem yourself. And use real figures too, because the only intake system I have ever heard of that added 35 horsepower was on a Shelby GT500...and that was yet again TO THE CRANK. Even K&N proves you wrong. Here is their dyno for a 5.3 Liter V8 stock and then with the new K&N Intake installed. You = Eating your words right now.

    http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/63-3059_dyno.pdf

I'd bet with a intake/exhaust/MAF/tune...you might put down 275 or so to the wheels. Get a life and stop talking out of your ass, I hope you get banned just for the sheer amount of IQ points I lost reading your post.

Reading that, I suppose that other modded GTP of yours probably has a 3.0" pulley and a straight pipe which added like 19psi and 75 right rear wheel horsepower. Am I right? If not please tell me the mods and how much power they REALLY added.

And with that...Thanks you guys (Sabre and Injun)...it just goes to show what kind of a person we are dealing with here. Oh, and I am saving his post too...saving it just for something to laugh at.

Apparently the G-Series part is referring to the G5, G6, & G8. Not the Grand Prix? This article explains:

sjr gxp i sent you a pm askin how you like the superchips, what do you think of it? how is the trans support tune on it?? I REALLY dont see how its possible to get 90 hp from a tune when superchips sales managers tell me from the books about 18-20 hp WITH a 91 octane tune. again im not makin fun just lookin for any info from a non-salesman trying to get me to buy a product...
    2006 GXP, stock for now
