not the head gasket, i put new headers on instead of stock manifold, with new gaskets, but unfortunately could not get one of the stud bolts started. This as you and i both know caused the rear header gasket to most likely blow out a little and cause a leak. i can hear it at low speeds and high speeds, sounds bad overall and sweating horses. I need to get it fixed. also, the egr tube bolt went in pretty rough last time, so i dont know if they will need to re thread it or use a heli coil. they will also have a hard time with that last stud, i have it, they were no where to be found new for the 97, everything at the auto stores were way to big and incorrect even for my year, and online they are the same.. i had to pull them off junk gm cars. it is too much work for me to do and have to pull the motor mounts just to get to it. how much do you think a shop would charge for this job or how many labor hours do you think it would take them? im guessing around $500 at least

loosen up the bolts and move the header around till the stud threads into the head.

in a perfect world, you leave the 2 ends studs in place with the gasket behind them, then bring the header up and put the nuts on the studs, install the rest of the bolts and hand tighten them.

Delete the EGR, don't need it anyways.

Two pennies, RTV, cut the gold tubes and remove the valve. Put the pennies in the stock brackets off the LIM and the manifold and RTV them to them and bolt them back down.

    Done and done there.
