So after some number crunching and a couple weeks to think on it, I think I'm going to scale back what I was looking at doing, at least for the foreseeable future.

I guess the largest thing I'm going to be changing is the pulley size.

I'm hoping to get away with not needing a tune, and therefore the gauge and wideband AF sensor would be unnecessary for the short term...

    So my thinking is this:
    SD headers
    1.9 rockers + springs
    LIM gasket
    CAI
3.5" pulley (on a modular hub)

I'm hoping that i can get away with the 3.5 at this point and not have to worry about a tune, as that instantly adds at least $700.

That said, if you guys think even that much of a pulley drop will be unsafe, I'll go 3.6 or 3.8, as I'm sure I'll still get some benefit from the rest without a tune. Down the road when I have more $ i can set aside for this, I'll start getting the stuff a few pieces at a time until I'm at the point where I'm ready to move up. The biggest thing that's killing me is knowing I'll have to either guess on pulleys or buy a likely buy a bunch that I'll end up never using after finding how far I can safely go with the tune.

So what do you guys think? Should I be safe with a 3.5 without a tune and the above listed mods?

Either way, with those mods and wanting to drop pulleys, you will want/need a wideband and tune regardless.

The last thing you want to happen if so whatever reason the car to go lean under boost and pop a few pistons. It really doesnt matter if you are only pushing 6psi or 9-10 psi, going lean can make it chip a piston no matter what.

Look around your area for tuners, there might even be someone on here that lives near you that can tune. Or buy a canned tune for maybe overkill and hope it's good enough for those mods.

Though the stock tune does run extremely rich and it likely won't be that much leaner with the added air, I'd still want the a tune done to it.

Also, adding those mods could pop up a few check engine lights and those can be taken care of with a tune.

you should be fine with that combination. you could get a scanner to see how much kr you have and then know if you can drop pullies.

I've got a tuner and I'm over in Tallahassee, although I'm gone from home most of the time with work.

If you don't decide to tune I'd at least get a scan gauge to see if you're getting KR or not.
