I know the whole debate about open cone vs cold air, is kind of a hot button on this site. What ive gathered is that the big issue with these engines is flow when it comes to intake. as long as your moving open cones are fine
I was looking at ebay, and i found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-98-99-00-...b3ab70&vxp=mtr
has any one used this, or have any thoughts? I have to replace the current filter, and this isnt much more expensive.

this is how my intake is setup. if you don't have a northstar throttle body and northstar maf, I would just get a 4" aluminium ring, like the one zzp sells, and shove it inside the rubber, baffled accordion style intake tube and then clamp a conical air filter onto it.

Tons of people on here run those eBay kits. I forget how cheep some of the parts are for these cars. I paid about 4 times that just for the intake tube for my Tahoe.

I did that for a while, but my ocd wouldn't let me leave the IAT sensor dangling.

I ziptie'd it to the throttle bracket.

    Who cares.

It's gonna get hot with the crossover anyways.

I understand all the reasons its not that important, I just couldn't handle having a wire dangle. like I said, my ocd wouldn't allow it.
