Maybe try some foil tape. Should resist the heat and stay in place. Never tried it in an engine compartment before though. It'll allow you to get it into the accordion area and will hold it's shape.

Just get from a JY. If you really want I can get one for you, maybe. I'd have to check if the 7th generation GP's still have the intake tube. Unless a '97-'03 works too?

    97/98 tube is year specific.

    Same with 99-03.

They won't work with the 04+.

For future reference, if anyone is looking for the specific part number, it's 15219032. Got it from gmpartsdirect.com.

I would have got a $5~ correctly sized coupler from Home Depot (like 2 3/4" or 3")...and install the grommet from the intake tube.

I hate how the air box is set up in the '97-'98. The set up is much more reasonable in my car.

There is a solid 5~WHP gain from a 99+ airbox to the 97/98 guys...probably a smidge more so with a high flow filter in there, too.

Why would you make an air box where the tube goes out, then up, takes another turn and into the engine. Just stupid.

Just like how GM thinks it's a good idea to not put a drain plug on the tranny pan, use DEX-COOL, use plastic intakes, etc, etc, etc.

FWIW Dexcool doesn't cause the intake gasket issues. It's only true claim to fame is potentially turning to oatmeal if air is introduced. Ford, Chrysler and GM all went nylon based (plastic) gaskets around the same time and all of them had the same issues.

My GM truk had a trans drain plug. Maybe it's just the cheap GP that didn't have one.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
