very worth it. easier to put the heads on, better load distribution, you can crank them down more, etc.
i have my stock heads at ~90 ft/lbs with them running felpros non-intercooled. they have worked great so far.
ARP HEAD STUDS are worth the money. I've been runing them with felpro gaskets non intercooled and seeing 16 lbs of boost with my setup.
well, ordered from arp. any recomendations on these for install?
Dont overcrank the studs when you install them, follow the factory torque specs for the heads.
Studs make things stronger, I used nothing but ARP fasteners in every engine ive ever built.
use TEFLON PASTE to install them. if you use tape, youre going to get leaks. goober them up nice, thread them in hand tight and clean up the excess that bleeds out. put the heads on within an hour or so, no longer. torque the heads down in like 30-60-75 ft lbs in that order or something close to those numbers. i have mine torqued at 90 ft lbs and they are good so far.
do whatever you want, but do it the right way.
if you use paste you need to installthe heads shortly after you put the studs in if the paste dries and then you torque you will break the seal and leak. Or use tape and just put it on thick. people will argue this either way. You do need to use more than stock torque spec. Torque spec will depend if you use arp mily lube or oil to torque.
Teflon tape is not good for head studs/bolts. a piece of that tape comes off and gets in an oil passage, gets back to the pump and blows out the oil pump.
Never use tape on internal threads.

Teflon tape is too fragile to screw anything up. It tears if you look at it wrong.
alright im stupid and am going to use my own thread....but where is the topic with all the tq specs?
follow the specs given by ARP. I have mine with a final torque spec of 90ft lbs.....
I went 35, 75, 90.... using the same torque sequence as factory.......
i know that lol i need tq specs for everything else! and my chiltons for children does not help...
I have most of the torque specs on my PC, I just havent had the time to get them in a document form and add them to my documents project.

Well to be honest, Ive never seen any torque specs for that. Since GM didnt do any work or repair the superchargers, I dont think there were any published specs. You may be able to go to Eatons website and find some, but Ive never checked to see if they were there.
