Trying to decide between a rollmaster double roller, or new stock chain/dampener. Have a jp double roller on my motor right now, but at the time I pulled that motor I was reading about a lot of people breaking them. I can see on the outer edge of the roller pins where it was rubbing on the oil pump cover, and it seems a bit stretched for the miles on it. Are the rollmasters G2G now, or still issues with them?

Motor is an L36 with XP, 105's, and titanium retainers.

I would go with a new stock chain and dampner if you're only running 105 springs.

That's what I was kind of leaning toward, engine is going into a '99 SSEI and I don't plan on racing it. Just wasn't up to speed if the rollmaster issues were sorted out or not, don't mind dropping a few extra dollars for the added durability, but don't like wasting money like I did with my jp dr either.. Won't be shifted over 6k probably ever. Guess I'll just grab a new cloyes set off Amazon and call it good.

I hate to disagree, but if you're not shifting over 6k you're not getting the full xp experience.
Go with 130's, a double roller, and shift at like 6300.
    And enjoy that cam!

When this engine was in my '97 GT, and later GTP, I was shifting higher, and also running it at the track. No plans to drag the Bonne, it needs a motor, and this is the one that's on the stand just about ready to go.

im tossing the original l26 back into my 04...after i grind off the 6 piston dings from when the oem T chain broke at 75k with 105's on a VS

cam was tossed in at 40 (new tensioner) and the springs on at about 50k

300$ tow bill from 6 hours away and a weekend swapping the motor from the 442 into it so it was drivable asap.

i decided it woulda been cheaper with the double roller and 3 hours at a whorehouse

To answer your question regarding the double roller, gears are still Aussie engine gears and need to be corrected before you install it into a US motor or the same thing will happen as your JP setup.

Thanks Bill, that's what I was wondering, was hoping they would've sorted that out by now since it's been years, but oh well.

Turbo400, was that car a daily driver, or were you racing it as well? How high were you shifting? I guess it wouldn't be much trouble for me to pull the timing cover every 15k to inspect the chain/dampener, until someone starts making a double roller that works properly, or selling properly machined crank sprockets. With the cost of the jp I already bought, plus a new rm, and machining work to get it to work like it should, it's getting pretty close to the cost of another L67/36 for me. Maybe I should go with new stock springs and stock shift points, set the idle to 900 and see how long it lasts.

I found it odd James aka Turbo400 didn't mention it. Since he is one of the guys that discovered/documented it.
