I have a SSEILMNOP phenolic intercooler and his ported LIM for my L67, would I benefit buy upgrading to a gen V blower with a northstar TB? Would the gains be worth the cost or are the smaller openings to restrictive to notice. Thanks for your help.

Gains would be very good, gen v intercoolers are barely larger than gen 3.

Really, that's great..... As instructed by sseilmnop I didn't use a gasket and only RTV between, how hard you think it will be to separate the blower from the IC?

its usually stuck pretty good to aluminum ics/lims, dunno how much it sticks to the phenolic

It all depends on your budget.

A Gen V is more efficient than a fully ported Gen III. There's roughly a .2" pulley difference between the two blowers. A 3.0 on a Gen V is equivalent to 2.8 on Gen III.

You wont really notice the difference in power between a Gen V and a Gen III until you get around a 3.0" pulley or lower. It also all depends on what you plan on doing to your car. If you're doing a large build, cam, IC, exhaust, etc.. then sure, a Gen V & N* would be a great addition. But if your just doing an IC and bolt on's, then you wont notice much of a difference between the blowers.

And you can fit a Gen V ontop of a Gen III intercooler core. The opening on the Gen V core is just slightly bigger.

Use a putty knife to split the phenolic from the LIM and the phenolic from the supercharger.

Start near the driver side (thermostat) and get it separated there.

Gen V is a decent upgrade anywhere around the 3.4 pulley level or lower, dyno graphs have proven that you might not gain a ton of power, but your mid range tq will improve greatly, which is where the good feel and drivability is at.

I'm currently running a 2.9 pulley XP hot cam 140# springs, I guess I'd go with a 3.1 pulley with the gen v and n*. Also have autolite 103's green giant 42.5 injectors 3" catless exhaust custom tuned by 3800Chris in my Fiero GT. I ran 12.1 @ 110mph with 1.6 60 foot 3 times in a row on street tires, I want the 11's and I hope the gen v will do it....

After my 4 years in the scene, I've only been told roughly around 3.0" is where the "bigger" gains will be noticed with a Gen V swap. I've never done a dyno to test that. But I have personal experience, I did have a basic 3.5 setup with headers and swapped to a Gen V and kept the 3.5 on. Didn't notice a big power increase, but the better "whine" it made, gave me an orgasm in my ears.

I'll dig around, someone went from a 3.4 gen 3, to a 3.4 gen v and and intercooler, and gained only about 30-40 hp but gained over 100 tq, and a lot of tq under the curve. which is what gives you power everywhere, but I agree, the gains are larger the smaller pulley you have. Also its almost worth it just for that whine! haha

There's some more information I wanted.

A Gen V swap and N* would definitely help with power increase at your level.

Middle of page 2. Gained 45 Hp and 123 ft lb of tq. Granted he added an IC and then went to Gen V, but most of that tq gain is from a gen V

Yeah the Gen V noise is sex. It's so addicting. Especially when you have the silencer ports closed

Here's a video I made the day I did the Gen V swap, with closed silencer ports. Keep in mind this is on a stock 3.8" pulley. B*tch screams for stock pulley in the higher RPM levels.

Would it be a straight swap? Any issue with the PCV? The water lines are plugged and my bbv is deleted.

According to SSEILMNOP, his IC core has a functional PCV setup, I think. So there's no need for custom work. Could be wrong, since I've never installed a IC before.

When I did my Gen V swap and added a N* TB, there is a brass tube on the TB already, and you just run a Vac line from that to the Nipple on the back of the Gen V to make the PCV functional.

    Thanks man.

She's getting 18" saleen rims, f-body brakes and lower this upcoming summer.

Hopefully! *fingers crossed* just depends on how needy the new born baby will be. LOL

Sounds like a few solid upgrades. If you ever find yourself needing a weird part/bolt etc, feel free to pm me.. I seem to have so many extras of everything lol.

As a matter of fact I'm looking for a gen V with a northstar throttle body. You have one of those laying around?
