I'm currently working on my valve cover gaskets and the 2 bolts that hold the bracket on will not go back in their holes, trying them with washers but has anybody had this problem???

the bolts your tossing in are too long. you mixed them up with other hardware somehow. ive seen plenty of divots in the LIM's and top face of IC's from it.

the holes are through threaded and near the blower mounting boltholes, but are made blind by the lim/ic when the blower is bolted to the engine.

They go in mostly then get very snug,so instead of tightening to tight and cracking anything I put 2 washers on each screw and the bracket is tight, you think this way will be ok,seems like if they come out they'd go back in

Looks like the rear cover was changed before,it was diffent than the front, the screws are the same ones that are on the blower or around it,I found on Google that it takes 22 ft lbs of torque, could that be why, maybe it requires a air ratchet??,my drill impact wouldn't budge them, pretty sure nobody has changed any screws, they start ok then just get tight

Like Turbo said.. I'd also think that you have the wrong bolts. They look just like SC bolts except they are shorter.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah..take a pic of how long one of them is..

IIRC in some years they were silver instead of standard dark steel.

yeah the sc bolts are similar in design, but are about 5mm too long, never seen the map bolts in black, they are silver to differentiate em from the sc bolts, iirc they are the same length bolts as the vac tree/pcv cap on top of the blower

    someone mixed up bolts
