Can an engine thermostat have anything to do with the tranny shifting? Seems to want to hold second gear a long time before shifting since I changed the thermostat. I have an engine code too but haven't had the chance to get someone to read it.

not likely, get the car scanned for that code. it will lead you to the problem.

When you changed the stat, did you unplug the TPS, MAF, or IAC? if, so did you forget to plug them back in?

Did you unplug or fray the coolant temp.wire that goes over one.of the thermostat housing nuts? Not sure.that would cause shifting.issues though.
