I used to live there and closest station was 45 min away... not really worth it unless i bought a few barrels lol

Oh theres one in draper now... hmm. I lived in midvale, shooting for around there but wherever I find a place thats cheap. Living there is spendy compared to here in south dakota.
I could do draper....
Ya, decent houses in good neighbors start at like 250,000. There might be more e85 stations now, you should check fuel finder. There is a 3800 club there as well.
I'm running an s1x with 1.8 rr and 130# springs. Bumped the idle up a bit and she's been fine for 25K miles.
yep but I've only had the rockers on it for about 2K miles or so.
Ah. I think more than likely I'll be sticking with stock head clearances, unless its not too much for a shop to clear them up to .550 or .600 for me. and I'll do some diy porting.
It probably wouldn't cost much to get the valve guides milled down. Then port away.
Well I found a good deal on a used S1X today so I'm doing that, So:
Stock heads, might diy port
S1X
105 lb springs (might upgrade to 130s)
Titanium retainers
stock rockers (duh)
stock pushrods (probably)
stock lifters
Probably JP single timing set with new stock damper
And E85 goodness for the 2.8 pulley bidness.
jp single timing set because it is litterally 40$ more than a stock chain, and makes me feel a little better.
Saving some money on valve train so I can focus on drivetrain stuff (clutch etc) to make sure I don't toast that haha. Spec stage 3ish is the plan. Hopefully the 5 speed and 10 bolt holds up.
Then tires.... because it came with and still has cruddy no name all seasons ha.
and down the road maybe I'll try and squeeze a SSIC in. But for now that'll get me over 300 RWHP and I'll be quite please with my V6 camaro :-)
id stick with the s1x cam and single roller and 105# springs that way you dont need heavier springs and a doubleroller and machined timing cover. s1x is alot easier to setup anx with the ported heads depending on the tune on e85 id wonder if you could spin it below a 2.8 pulley?
edit plus if you leave the s1x setup you can always add 1.7 rockers later too since youll have them heads on.
eh while its apart i feel like itd be dumb to keep a small cam, plus S3 can be run with 130's, which people say is fine with high idle and stock chain/single roller.
I'm in the same dilemma as you. I have s1x /105s/gen5:3.0/FSIC
i recently obtained s3 heads , 130s , double roller
I could just use 1.8 rockers on the s1x or pick between a xpz and s3x cam. Which reminds me of how hard it was deciding between the xp and s1x cam a few years ago
