because you're running a turbo and you "need to" since you run so much boost.

or you could get inventive and install a vacuum pump to the system and go back to a normally operating car without excess crank case pressure. but who would do that when you can cheap out and do it the hack, easy way, right?

are there any benefits to these motors with blocking off the PCV and adding a breather? Not sure if the supercharger/engine efficiency could at all be effected by making said change.

Then again, I guess that would introduce the un-metered flow mentioned above...

All you do is install a pcv valve inline with your breather..
.the concept is simple..under normal vacuum the valve stays closed. When you hit boost valve opens when gas pushes out and allows vapor to escape. Trick is to find a big enough pcv valve to flow

but without a crankcase vent (ie that one way valve) when its under vacume your sucking air is past all your crankcase seals (can make for some sweet noises of all types)

sc cars can keep the entire stock pcv system with just an external metered fresh air supply if an IC is in the way
hell you can plumb a damn oil seperator into the oem sc case PCV pathway and get rid of alot of that detonation causing oil!

i have pics in one of my many photobuckets...

but no you dont need two breathers, the rear would be more likely to discharge oil mist...on hot exhaust. run a hose from the two oem fill caps to a separate breather tank with a vent and remove the pcv system. even better tap into the oem pcv paths where it allows for far more oil to fall out of suspension inside the engine before it goes tot he tank. (you dont need to drain it nearly as often...the rockers and springs stir up that oil into quite a tizzy....)

I have done multiple custom PCV setups on some of my previous cars but was not sure the best way to do it on the PCV setup inside the blower housing on these 3800s

if you find one of my pcv threads its in there but suffice it to say, the case gets drilled/tapped to 1/4npt in the side of the pcv tower, above the pcv Oring. then the cover is drilled and tapped to fit an elbow (both received 3/8ths barbed nipples) where the inside allowed for a short hose to be cut to fit over the end of the pcv and the cover nipple protrusion. you delete the spring so the hose holds the pcv down.

then the top elbo is plumbed to the inlet of the oil seperator and the case nipple the outlet.

this only allows external plumbing of an oil seperator to the oem pcv path, a good metered fresh air supply must still exist for the crankcase, whether OEM or external
