I just found out that my throttle body is not for the GTP, it is a throttle body from a 3.1/3.4L, I'm guessing from a Grand Am. Would this affect performance at all? It is quite a bit shorter than the stock GTP throttle body.

Also, could this be part of what is causing my car to run weird? It is now trying to die constantly, dropping to about 500 RPM, unless I keep the throttle open. I don't believe it is a vac leak, I cannot find one anywhere. Just replaced the IAC and no change.

Never thought the 3.1/3.4 could even bolt onto our cars, so I bets it's neither of those.

    Post picture of it.

Is the MAF inside the throttle body or somewhere else?

3.1 and 3.4 cars do NOT run a maf sensor in the throttle body, they run it in the intake tubing.

And yes running something different will effect how it runs, even more when not tuned for the changes.

Yeah, nope. That's not even close to a stock throttle body.

Thats some jimmy rigged stuff right there with the maf sensor.

Looks like a caddy N* throttle body with a metal tube that someone put the stock maf in, so it totally reading EVERYTHING wrong on air flow.

Think it would be worth dropping the $200 and getting a high velocity throttle body from ZZP? Or just pick up a stocker?

I have a lot of mods... cam, ic, injectors, rockers, 3.1 pulley, etc... So I'm thinking it may be worth just investing in the high velocity right now...

the older 4 bolt Northstar throttle body comes from the factory with the plastic neck to hold the mass airflow sensor.
they work just fine without any issues though I do prefer the external maf, later model 3 bolt Northstar throttle bodies
