Can somebody tell me the difference in the powerband between 1.9 rockers and a stage 1 cam?
With a cam would i gain more bottom end torque or is it all mid range to top end?

I am installing ssic new lifters and a timing chain so its not that much more work for me i was disappointed with my yt1.9 with the loss of my low to mid range torque i tried changing my tune around but it didnt do much
Had 1.9 rockers switching to xp cam car is all tore apart

I should say i lost low end torque and gained hi rpm horse power
before the rockers around 3k rpm it pulled so hard i had torque steer going straight after the rockers on the same tune it feels slugish till 4500 i am hoping its weak noise lifters but i dont think i would have a power issue like that thats why i am looking into doing a cam while i am in there if i am still able to have that low rpm torque that i would rather have as a daily driver
I think either something is wrong or it's all in your head.
There's a number of things that you can mess up...
Confusing, properly camming vs just rockering. Both can be screwed up or done right.
I work on cars and medium duty trucks for a living and i can honestly say the rockers are on point. and after i noticed the lifter tick i went back to check the rocker alignment and found everthing properly installed. They were bought used and it looked like somebody put one rocker in a vice. To tighten up some of the side to side play in the roller tip but it was not damaged it looked normal wear
I am not a seasoned tuner but i had a good starting point with a intense tune that has been slightly modified with good results
I am not the only one to notice a difference in the power band and when my brother drove it he immediately noticed a loss of torque and the exhaust sounds slightly different maby ill start with a compression test and cyl leak down test before modding any further
Do you guys have any real diag input or is this the trade off for rockers
What pulley where you running? Maybe the rockers caused a boost loss since they would be moving more air?

Was it tuned after the rocker install? Going from .456 lift (stock) to .541 with 1.9 rockers is certainly not going to LOWER torque. Although your not changing much, you ARE still allowing more air in and out. No other mods? Open the intake any? Exhaust? Of course I had an Overkill tune prior to tuning on my own.
I can tell you, with ported SC and TB, 3.4 pulley, 1.9YT RR, headers, 3" exhaust all the way back to split, I'm VERY happy with throttle response, the pull and top end. Maybe I'm just lucky and did it right?
And seriously I'm on the fence to (not) take this engine apart for my cam build or leave it alone and build up the spare engine I have sitting there... It's that good!
Only reason I'm going to do the cam build is simple... I WANT MORE!!!![]()
I am running a 3.4 pulley before and after the rockers. Now i am at about 10 pounds of boost running on a intense tune with 5-7 degrees of kr with added fuel and timing pulled i am at 2-3 my mods now are 3.4 pulley fwi p&p blower and lim sd headers no cat 2.5 to 2.25 mufflers 180 t stat 10.5 wires ngktr6. Yt1.9 105 springs and more now i am running a modified intense tune my knock sensors have been replaced but were possibly damaged durring shipping they were put in a envelope and i know they were dropped but i am replacing them it seems with my mods i should be able to run knock free with a 3.3 right???
My plans in two to three weeks are to install a ssic ls7 lifters new single timing chain and possibly a gen v with n* my throttle response is not that great since the1.9 maybe the n* will help
I was thinking of dropping a pulley size when doing the rockers becouse of the added flow but my kr barely changed
Truth be told... the rockers barely do anything at all.
Thats why noticing a dramatic difference in low/midrange power is concerning...
rockers will give you more torque in those areas where your current stock cam already makes the most torque... which is from around 1800 to just under 4000rpm...
you wont gain much top end power at all... thats where cams come in.
rockers dont change anything except lift, they have a tiny effect on overlap which is negligible though.
My modded 1.98 rockers gave me more bottom end torque but it still fell flat very quickly in the top end... same as with stock rockers.
My XP cam just shines above 4k rpm now![]()
