Hi, there new to the forum, I just picked up a 2003 gtp and it has a broken motor mount, which intern cracked the rear manifold, I live in Albuquerque New mexico and they have emissions here, so I will need to be running a cat. I figure that since i will be changing out the rear manifold I mine as well install a set of headers. So for the real question is there a set of headers on the market that retains the current down pipe? Most of the headers I have seen come with a new down pipe and what seems like a diffrent connection set up then the factory manifold.

Thank you for any advice or ideas

look up speed daddy headers, best bang for the buck. it will bolt right up to the stock cat back.

only they dont come with a cat, you'll have to add one.

Is there room for a cat in between the flex pipe that comes on the speed daddy headers and the factory cat back?

    sure is.

see the part with the goose neck, lower right, and the two other pipes are the rest of the downpipe. the part with no flange on the far left would be left out and the cat put in its place.

and should you buy headers of any brand, dont use those U clamps in the pics, buy band clamps. this way the headers will come off later if need be, and also keep them from leaking on you.

I work for Advance Auto and can say first hand that we do carry a limited supply of band clamps up to 3". Most people do not know about them so we always have a stock in the back. That said you have to find someone in the store who is willing to actually search for them .

Any ideas why the Speed Daddys on eBay have shot up to like $540? I can no longer find them for $220.

It's because they are low/empty on stock, and it is essentially free advertising to leave them up at a higher price that no one will pay.

I emailed them this month about their spring listings, as the white ones and black ones were $85 but the red ones were like $380. They said they currently do not actually have any red ones in stock. (So I got white springs)

EDIT: Also don't hate on Advanced Auto much. They were literally the only place in the world that wouldn't rape me for strut-top nuts, for $1.99 each.
