I just recently bought a 1998 GTP and I looked in the owners manual to see what the button on the side of the shifter was. Seeing that it might be nice, I went to try it out, but the "PERF SHIFT" light didnt come on, and I was wondering how you would know if it was actually on?

Well it would be kind of hard as it only changes the shift points a cupple hundred rpm's. Maybe someone else would have some suggestions for ya.

    I had a 98 previous to my 99.
And the light would come on on the corner of the dashboard in the cluster, where as my 99 lights up on the dic.
Like said, the shifts will be firmer so its noticeable.

Yeah when I drive mine you can feel a clear difference, I also have a 1998 GTP and the light burned out I thought it was a different problem but it was the light always check the cheaper problem first haha so when I bought the car I just replaced it.

You can run a wire I believe to the PCM (slot 23 I think) and it'll activate the light in the DIC...PYFC.com sells a Perf. Shift Harness Kit, since the '03's didn't come with it and I know nothing about wiring I bought it and installed it in about 30-45 minutes.
